With the NBA regular season coming to a close it's time for awards week at The Hoops Manifesto. We've teamed up with some of Bloguin's best NBA writers to vote on who gets the (virtual) hardware. Next up: Most Improved Player
Voting Panel: Jeff Fox from The Hoops Manifesto, Lives from Knicks Fanatics, College Wolf and Bonk from TWolves Blog, Philip Rossman-Reich from Orlando Magic Daily, and Don from With Malice.
Nikola Pekovic - Minnesota
09/10 - 13.6 mpg, 5.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.035 WS/48 (Win Share/48 minutes)
10/11 - 26.9 mpg, 13.9 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 0.170 WS/48
Nikola Pekovic is a throwback player. He can't run particularly fast. He can't jump over a phone book. He is big, burly and plays that way. Yet Pek has excelled on the NBA stage, exceeding expectations by leaps and bounds. Matched up with Kevin Love, Minnesota has one of the best frontcourts in the NBA, defense be damned. Congratulations to Nikola Pekovic, our choice for the 2011/12 NBA's Most Improved Player.
Others receiving votes: Ersan Ilyasova, Andrew Bynum, Jeremy Lin
Previous Award Winners: Executive of the Year, Coach of the Year
Next up: Sixth Man of the Year
