As diehards of this site (Mom? Are you there?) already know, The Hoops Manifesto runs a College Dunk of the Year Tournament every spring.  While we're a long way off from crowning 2011/12's champion, Nevada's Olek Czyz didn't waste any time getting his nomination in.

Other Dunk of the Year Nominees: Jeremy Lamb, Eric Griffin (MUST SEE!!) no comments

One of the side effects of the NBA lockout is hundreds of NBA players with hours of extra time on their hands.  While most players are spending their time on obvious pursuits (exhibition basketball games and/or charity endeavours and/or travelling to Third World countries to hock shoes - BORRRRRRRING!!), some are taking advantage of this rare abundance of free time to pursue more exotic undertakings.  In memory of the "What I Did On My Summer Vacation" essays we all got to write in school, The Hoops Manifesto honours these brave players with our "What I Did On My NBA Lockout" feature.  Next up: JaVale McGee and Nick Young eat cinnamon. no comments

So do you miss the NBA?  Personally I don't find an aching in my belly for the NBA (the only aching in my belly is from eating too much of my kids' Halloween candy).  Well it appears my opinion is shared by the majority of Americans (not sure if that is something I should be proud of, though!), as a recent poll conducted by Poll Position found that 76% of Americans do not miss the NBA.

While this has to be disturbing info for the NBA's powers that be, it gets worse.  The group that misses the NBA the least is the one that normally has the most disposable income - the 30-44 year-old age group.  83% of this group polled aren't missing the NBA during the lockout.  Young adults (18-29) miss the game the most, but still only 29% of those contacted report missing the NBA.  Are you paying attention David Stern?!  End this labour nonsense now!  But I'm not begging you or anything - after all, most of us aren't missing your product that much anyways! no comments
