With the decade coming to a close, the World Wide Web has been inundated with NBA Best of the Decade lists. Not to be left out, The Hoops Manifesto wants to share its Best of - with a twist. Next up - Best NBA Mustache of the Decade.
In basketball's glory days players used to look like this:

We at The Hoops Manifesto miss those days. No, not players posing for provocative photos, but rather players rocking a hairy upper lip. Yes, the mustache used to play a prominent role in the NBA - look no further than the lips of two the greatest players to play the game the last few decades - Michael Jordan and Larry Bird. But the mustache has slowly gone the way of the dinosaur, both on the court and off it. Still, the 2000s did offer us a few quality staches to choose from for the coveted Best NBA Mustache of the Decade award. And the winner is none other than Mr. Mike D'Antoni.

Coach D'Antoni sports the classic mustache - the one all our fathers had when we were growing up. Distinguished. Serious. Authoritative. Classy. But, with the stache going out of style, D'Antoni's sporting of if shows off other character traits of his: non-conformist, bold, willing to stand up for his beliefs. No doubt his mustache gave him the strength to run the Suns "Seven Seconds or Less" offense, the strength to clean up Isiah Thomas' mess in New York, the strength to bench Stephon Marbury, Eddy Curry and Nate Robinson. Long may you run Mike D'Antoni. And long may your mustache grow.
Runner up: Adam Morrison's classic "hesher" look.

Previous awards: Most Ridiculous NBA Tattoo(s).
