As unfathomable as it seems now, there was a time when ESPN wasn't "The Worldwide Leader in Sports".  There actually was a time when the only thing ESPN was the worldwide leader in was Aussie Rules Football and rodeo.  How did the network go from that to where they are today?  Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside The World of ESPN, the recently released book by James Andrew Miller and Tom Shales tell that tale, warts are all.

Coming in at a hefty 784 pages, Those Guys isn't a light read (literally) - however, considering it is written as an "oral history", it is also a quick, fun book to read.  All the major players in the network's history speak in the tome, and no controversy is skipped over (most of them involving sports anchors behaving badly, and "boys being boys").  While much of the book deals with the behind the scenes business dealings of the company, there are still plenty of stories that will entertain the average fan.  But the most intriguing aspect of the book for basketball fans will no doubt be the behind the scenes tale of how one of the most infamous events in the sport's history - Lebron James' "The Decision" - came to be.  All in all, all of the 784 pages of Those Guys are an interesting read for fans of sport and/or television.
