In addition to all of these accolades, Elgin Baylor is also unfortunate enough to also wear the title of "greatest player to never win a title" - Don

"Bird... sigh. I hated Bird with a passion as a kid. As a fan of Magic Johnson's Lakers, how could I not? Probably for the same reason Rob/Brumbygg loved Bird, I despised him. The guy didn't look like a basketball player. He couldn't run, he couldn't jump. Yet at every turn, there he was. Winning.
We often talk of passion for the game, the player's will to strive, to take their game to higher levels, ever higher. Kobe Bryant is oft-pointed to as an example of this. Of course, Jordan. But I don't think the story's complete without the inclusion of Larry Joe Bird. His will was legendary. To finish, a quote from perhaps my favourite movie of all time: "And then he showed these men of will what will really was."" - Don

Remember that no one that played in the Russell era won champion-ships except Hawks 1 and philly 1 so I guess there were no great players then. silly right? of course we really should do this by era to many great players I didn't rate any current players love todays players. Labrone is the best I have ever seen all around thought I would never get off of Mr. hang time Baylor yes that is who the name was started for

Good list . Paul Pierce could be added . LeBron will eventually be number 1 . Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Durant will be on the list. Bernard King is definitely an honorable mention. This is the one list of the 5 positions that should be extended to 15 players. It is also the one list where you can the the ranking is more fluid , I mean Larry bird on the Sixers they probably win some and Dr.J was on the celtics they probably win some. The distance between Between 1-10 is not that big.

No-one's said that he's not a very good player, but to claim that he is - NOW - the 2nd best small forward in the history of the game is inane, and merely displays your overbearing fandom for the guy.

And while I'm on a rant...... Halicek or Durant at #4? Let's give Durant a little time to do something before we put him up in the rare air!

Where is Dantley? And hey, Nique was my favorite player back when I first got hooked on NBA ball, but Lebron has earned a higher place by now.
@RobertKelley Dantley was one of the guys I considered including on my ballot, but ultimately he didn't make the cut. No voter included him in their top 10.

In the interest of full disclosure, I definitely had 'Nique over LeBron. Just barely though.
Worthy barely made my list, although I still don't really feel that he deserves a ton of accolades (overrated since he was always on great teams.) And I definitely didn't have English, although he was an option at #10.
I don't see how Paul Pierce could be in the Top 10 though. I like him a lot and all, but he's not quite there yet.
Sorry, one more beef: 'Nique over LeBron?!! Really?!! LeBron ALREADY has a better resume than Wilkins plus has had more playoff success than 'Nique.

@WithMalice @brumbygg 'Nique didn't even make it far enough in the playoffs to choke. Remember, James led a crappy Cleveland team to the Finals. He's also got two MVP awards WIlkins would love to have, as well as the All-Defense accolades.

LeBron can (and has) do everything on a basketball court better than 'Nique could do, and has led far more successful teams than Wilkins did.
